MAGAbomber Asks For Leniency Since None Of His Bombs Exploded

After pleading guilty to 65 felony counts regarding sending bomb-like devices to prominent Democrats, the 'MAGAbomber' - Cesar Sayoc Jr. - faces life in prison.

Sayoc listed among his targets Hillary Clinton, former CIA Director Jonn Brennan, actor Robert DeNiro, ex-President Barack Obama, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), former Attorney General Eric Holder, Sen. Cory Booker (D-New Jersey), Sen. Kamala Harris (D-California), hedge-fund billionaire Tom Steyer and CNN.

But his legal team says that he should receive no more than 10 years and one month in prison for sending what they call "hoax devices."

Public defenders representing Sayoc, 57, note that the FBI released a report last week stating that the devices Sayoc sent to 13 targets “were not functional as bombs” and that no one was hurt. He sent what he thought were duds after months of suffering from “delusional” beliefs and using copious amounts of steroids, the attorneys argue.

“In Mr. Sayoc’s mind, he was sending a hoax device, and he had no true grasp of the severity of his crimes or the potential ramifications of his actions,” the attorneys wrote. Sayoc faces a 10-year mandatory minimum sentence and is scheduled to be sentenced by Manhattan federal court Judge Jed Rakoff on Aug. 5.

They also argue that Sayoc is an outsize fan of President Donald Trump — and that he “became increasingly obsessive, paranoid, and angry” in the months leading up to the 2018 midterm elections, believing that anti-Trump forces had vandalized a “decrepit and cramped” van he was living in at the time that was plastered with pro-Trump messages and images.

Sayoc's attorneys also point to steroid use, alleged sexual abuse as a preteen and college panic attacks as mitigating circumstances that lead to his behavior.

Prosecutors say that even though the devices didn't work properly, they did involve real explosives, shards of glass, and toxic chemicals.

At the time of his arrest, Sayoc was living in a white van covered with pro-Trump images and messages, and others attacking Trump's critics — including ones that showed red crosshairs over Obama and Clinton.

Sayoc says he's really, really sorry.

Earlier this morning, as the nation is gripped with fear over more package bombs being discovered and a nationwide manhunt for a serial bomber intensified, the President of the United States tweeted that "bomb stuff" is affecting vote momentum for Republicans.

Florida: Pipe Bomb Suspect Identified

NBC News reports that 56-year-old Florida resident Cesar Sayoc, Jr. has been identified as the suspect who sent a dozen pipe bomb packages to prominent critics of President Donald Trump.

Sayoc's white van, which had pictures of Trump and the presidential seal plastered to the windows, was seized by the officials and hauled off to a secure facility.

For those who will ask, according to records, Sayoc is a registered Republican.

Far-right Trump supporters like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have suggested in the past couple of days that the bombs might have been sent by Democrats as a 'false flag.'

Sayoc's Facebook page has apparently been identified. It's quite the shrine to Donald Trump.

Florida Man Arrested In Connection To Pipe Bomb Mailings

Several news outlets are reporting a man has been arrested in connection with the series of pipe bombs sent to Donald Trump's political foes.

From the Sun-Sentinel:

A man has been arrested in Plantation in connection with the bombs sent to a dozen critics of President Trump, investigators said.

A police source said the federal investigation tracked a suspect to Plantation, near Broward Boulevard and State Road 441. The U.S. Department of Justice said one man was in custody and a press conference will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

FBI agents and other law enforcement officers were examining a white van in a commercial parking lot, covered with pro-Trump stickers. They covered the van with a blue tarp and were preparing to load it on to a truck.

The investigation had shifted to South Florida Thursday and Friday, as the number of bombs reached 12.

The latest bombs discovered were sent to New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and former National Intelligence Director James Clapper, both similar in appearance to pipe bomb devices sent to other prominent Democrats.

Trump Blames Everyone But Himself For Bombs Sent To His Political Foes

As more bombs are being sent to even more liberal political foes of Donald Trump, the president continues to blame the media and the victims themselves.

After yesterday saw former President Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and CNN targeted with mail bombs, this morning we get word that former Vice President Biden was the target of a 10th mail bomb.

But the Trumpster blames everyone but himself for the dangerous attacks.

This morning he continued to blame the media in a tweet, echoing heated rhetoric he brought to a campaign rally last night.
