Everyone seriously needs to stop and watch Jon Stewart's incredible speech before a Congressional committee regarding funding for 9/11 first responders.

Less than half the committee bothered to show up for the hearing, and an emotional Stewart lambasts those there in front of the cameras.

Congress loves to say "Never Forget," but they forgot to show up.

The House Judiciary Committee unanimously passed a bill which would permanently reauthorize the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund Wednesday, the day after comedian Jon Stewart gave impassioned testimony in support of the bill in video that quickly went viral.

The bill will now go to the floor for a full vote in the House of Representatives, where it is likely to pass. It's unclear whether Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will take up the bill in the Senate, although Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York said Wednesday that he was "imploring, pleading, even begging" McConnell to bring the bill to the floor as soon as it passes in the House.

Emmy Award winner Jon Stewart returned to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night to offer is take on this week's Republican National Convention, Fox News and Donald Trump.

Much of his appearance was directed at Fox News hosts like Trump supporter Sean Hannity (whom Stewart warmly referred to as "Lumpy" throughout the segment).

Just a sample of Stewart's message to Lumpy and company: "You feel that you’re this country’s rightful owners. There’s only one problem with that. This country isn’t yours. You don’t own it. It never was."

Obama To Jon Stewart: "I Can't Believe You're Leaving Before Me"

Making his last appearance on The Daily Show, President Obama joked with Jon Stewart, “I can’t believe you’re leaving before me. I’m going to issue an executive order: Jon Stewart cannot leave the show. It’s being challenged in the courts.”

The two then moved on to talk on several topics including the nuclear proposal with Iran, Donald Trump and more. Obama indicated he still plans to address fuel-energy standards and climate change in his remaining time in office.

Jon Stewart On South Carolina Church Shooting: "This Wasn't A Tornado, This Was a Racist"

In a stone cold sober opening, Jon Stewart began last night's edition of The Daily Show with a joke-free monologue on the shooting deaths of nine black Americans in a South Carolina church by a white racist.

"I've got nothing for you in terms of jokes and sounds, because of what happened in South Carolina."

"Nine people were shot in a black church by a white guy who hated them who wanted to start some kind of civil war.

"The confederate flag flies over South Carolina. And the roads are named for confederate generals.

"And the WHITE guy's the one who feels like his country is being taken away from him.

"We’re bringing it on ourselves. And that’s the things —al Qaeda, all those guys, ISIS - they’re not shit compared to the damage we can do to ourselves on a regular basis."

I think the funniest thing is the news that the students had to attend the event at Liberty University. Apparently it's a required weekly convocation.

So, the picture of all those young voters "excited" about Cruz running for Prez? Yeah, not so much.

Rep. Aaron Schock Gets The Daily Show Treatment

So, a few weeks ago an innocuous "style" piece for the Washington Post brought to light the latest decor choices made by (totally not gay) Congressman Aaron Schock of Illinois.

Not exactly the kind of attention he was looking for probably, and it ended with his communications guy resigning (albeit for reasons in addition to handling the story badly).

But the story launched a look into his spending habits - spending money other than his own. And so, now there is a congressional inquiry/possible audit into some expenses that have been covered with inappropriate funds. Word comes now that he's lawyered up to handle the allegations.

With all that happening, it was inevitable that Jon Stewart would have to bring the handsome young congressman into focus on The Daily Show.

Jon Stewart announced today that he plans to leave his post as host of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" later this year.

For fifteen years Jon Stewart has demonstrated his comedic genius on the subject of politics and the daily news cycle.  Folks can joke all they want, but he will be missed.

Now that same-sex marriage IS the law of the land in Florida, Jon Stewart of The Daily Show skewers those in the Sunshine State who stood in the way of marriage equality.

For example, regarding the county clerks who decided to cancel ALL courthouse weddings rather that be forced to marry same-sex couples, Stewart says this: "Yes we don’t want to cause 'discriminations' against county court employees who don’t feel like following the law. These people didn’t choose to be county clerks. They were born that way."

Jon Stewart On Eric Garner Case: "I Honestly Don't Know What To Say"

Jon Stewart opened Wednesday night’s Daily Show dropping the comedy to tackle the “utterly depressing” non-indictment in the Eric Garner case. He said, “I don’t know. I honestly don’t know what to say. If comedy is tragedy plus time, I need more fucking time.”

At least with Ferguson, Stewart said, there was conflicting testimony, “but here there is none of that.” And there’s no question about unreliable witnesses because there’s video and “we are f*cking watching it.”

Jon Stewart on the Cognitive Dissonance of LatteSalute

On last night's The Daily Show, Jon Stewart addressed the hypocrisy (shocker!) of the right wing media's outrage over the recent "Latte Salute" incident involving President Obama and an inartful salute.

Among other things, Stewart points out that President Obama is not the first prez to have a sloppy salute moment. We've all seen the now-famous photo of President Bush saluting with his dog in his hands.  Nuff said...

And, Stewart contrasts Fox News pundit Eric Bollings' statements "These people put their lives on the line for us. Show the respect" with his later quip in the very show when he dissed a female pilot performing air strikes in the Middle East saying "Would that be considered "boobs on the ground" or no?"

Jon Stewart: Remember when the NFL though a GAY player would be a distraction?

Jon Stewart of The Daily Show reminds us of those golden days when the NFL's most worrisome headache was the claim that out NFL-er Michael Sam gave franchise owner heartburn because they worried about his homosexuality "becoming a distraction."

Well, can't you imagine what the NFL would give for the hunky Mr. Sam to do something - ANYTHING - to cause a distraction from the current scandals rocking the football world?

Between the Baltimore Ravens Ray Rice getting national attention for punching out his then-fiance back in February, and now the Minnesota Vikings' Adrian Peterson whipping his four year old child until his son bled, a gay football player looks pretty tame now, doesn't it?

Stephen Colbert says goodbye to Jon Stewart: “I’m really going to miss me”

Stephen Colbert “surprised” Jon Stewart last night to say goodbye to his former boss.

Recently tapped to replace David Letterman as the host of “Late Night” in 2015, Colbert announces, “I’ve won television!” 

Colbert also conveniently bring his own "highlights" reel - since no one else did one.  The reel ends with the appropriately worded graphic, “Stephen, you are the greatest love of our lives!”

“I’m really going to miss me,” Colbert told Stewart.

Jon Stewart takes down Sean Hannity on Cliven Bundy support

The Daily Show's Jon Stewart addressed Fox News host Sean Hannity's hypocrisy for taking up the banner of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and his supporters.

Bundy was locked in a standoff with the Bureau of Land Management earlier this month over unpaid grazing fees. Hannity gave Bundy a platform to explain his side of the dispute, and strongly implied last week that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and the federal government were planning to raid Bundy's ranch. No raid has since taken place.

"The law isn't on Bundy's side, the court isn't on Bundy's side, even the Nevada state constitution, which Bundy claims to abide, isn't on Bundy's side. Who the hell is on this guy's side?" Stewart wondered. "Hannity. I still don't get it."

Stewart goes on to point out that Hannity went berserk over a California surfer who admitted to "scamming the American people" by taking food stamps and buying lobster.

So, Hannity picks and chooses which laws he wants to see defended and which he does not....?
