Viral Video: Coldplay & Beyoncé "Hymn For The Weekend"

The second single from Coldplay's acclaimed new album, A Head Full Of Dreams.

From Stereogum:

The clip, from director Ben Mor, features Coldplay performing at what appears to be an Indian street fair and wandering into the city while fireworks explode above.

Beyoncé never appears onscreen with the boys; instead, she plays some sort of Bollywood screen queen, which is some pretty decent casting if you ignore the whole cultural-appropriation angle.

Beautifully shot.

Longtime readers of The Randy Report know I'm a huge Coldplay fan.

Over 5 million views in a day. As it should be :)

Channing Tatum Gets An Assist On Lip Sync Battle From Beyoncé

Channing Tatum channels Beyonce on Lip Sync Battle

Lots of fun last night as husband and wife Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum danced it out for supremacy in the Season 2 premiere of Lip Sync Battle!

After Jenna gave Channing a taste of his own Magic Mike medicine with a lap dance to Ginuwine's "Pony," Channing showed no fear with his version of Beyoncé's "Run The World (Girls)"!

Oh, and he brought in a little bit of super-star power in the form of Beyoncé herself at the end.

Check it out.

Short Film: Beyonce "Yours And Mine"

Interesting video - no music really, but Bey voices her deepest, personal thoughts about the difficulties of being famous. A bit self-centric but beautifully shot.

Clip description: A retrospective short film celebrating the one-year anniversary of the self-titled visual album, BEYONCÉ.

Video Parody: Bryan Hawn Does Beyonce's "Ghost"

Bryan Hawn (and his rather impressive back-side) offers this parody of Beyonce's "Ghost" video.

Hawn wondered if he could make a ghost "sexy."

Talk about something to be thankful for...

New Music Video: Beyoncé "7/11"

Beyoncé dropped her latest music video, "7/11," yesterday. Over three million views in less than a day.

The video is much less about "production" than her usual fare. Some folks on the inter webs aren't so thrilled. I still think it'll be a huge hit.

Kids will emulate her having a good time in the "post Christmas" party setting. Guys will love the girls in pajamas, girls will love the moves and fun.  She's giving the kids "living in the moment."

That sells.

Video: Beyonce stops the VMAs with super-medley before accepting Video Vanguard Award

Mega-props to the choreographers (assuming Svetlana Kostantinova, Philippe Decouflé, Danielle Polanco and Frank Gatson?) who staged Beyonce's show-stopping medley before accepting the 2014 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at MTV's VMAs last night.  The staging was outstanding in it's creativity and execution.

From Rolling Stone:

The performance was flawless, seamlessly segueing between the slow ballads and upbeat tracks as each song was accompanied by perfectly executed choreography. This was Beyoncé at her best. There were no costume changes — she wore the same mosaic leotard the whole time — but the entire essence of her On the Run performances, right down to the backdrop videos, was brilliantly translated onto the VMA stage.

Beyoncé joins Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, R.E.M., Michael Jackson and other MTV icons as recipients of the Video Vanguard award.

Brain Break: Boys of Randy Blue lip-dub Beyonce's "Blow"

Afternoon brain break from work.

A new video from Randy Blue plays tribute to Beyonce’s song “Blow,” with the boys lip-syncing to the song in multicolored underwear and looking lovely. Nothing tawdry, just a bit of color and fun.

Beyoncé "Haunted" by Madonna

The pop music world is all aglow over Beyonce dropping her fifth studio album with no announcement or warning.

Titled Beyoncé, is available on iTunes. With 14 songs and 17 videos, the project is being referred to as "The Visual Album."

"I see music," Beyoncé said in a video announcement on her Facebook page. "It's more than just what I hear. When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music."

She also released 30-second previews so you can see what it is you're buying.  The video clip below, "Haunted," is clearly inspired by Madonna's "Justify My Love" video featuring Beyonce walking down the hallway of a hotel filled with exotic, sexy creatures.

Beyonce pulled off-stage by fan at concert in Sao Paulo

An overly excited fan pulled Beyoncé off the stage and into the crowd last night at a concert last night in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

As Beyoncé sits on the end of the platform she was performing on, he literally reaches up and pulls her into the crowd.

From the NY Daily News:

Meanwhile scores of security surround the man and fellow concert goers appear to rough him up for the inappropriate move. Surprisingly, Beyoncé comes to his defense!

She tells her security that "it's okay," letting the man stay in the venue. She later asks him his name, then warmly tells him "I love you" before continuing on with her concert, as the crowd cheers.

I appreciate that fans enjoy their idols, but this could have been very scary. Props to Beyoncé for being so cool.

Madonna - "Secret Project" to be unveiled soon?

Madonna may be prepping to unveil a new song that has been referred to as "Secret Project" within her camp of compadres. The project is rumored to be a civil rights song and video addressing women's empowerment.

The debut could come this weekend at the Sound of Change Live concert, a global charity event for female empowerment broadcast globally from London, England.

From the Examiner:
Madonna shot the video for her secret project last December and recorded a new song that deals with feminist power earlier this year. The name of the song was tentatively titled "Back of the Bus," but that could change in the final version. It is said to be one of the most powerful ballads Madonna has haver come up with. It compares the struggle women face around the world with the Civil Rights Movement that started in the 1950s.

Madonna has always been an outspoken advocate for women's rights as well as gay rights. In the 1980s, when gay men were dropping like flies because of AIDS, Madonna preached tolerance through her albums, videos, and concert performances. She risked her career by defending the gay community, but gave them a much needed voice at a time when even our own president, Ronald Reagan, was homophobic.

Madonna has a special place in her heart for empowering young women. In 1989, she released the song "Express Yourself," which became an anthem for women's rights.
The four hour concert, which begins at 1:00 p.m. EDT, will include inspirational and provocative films and stories highlighting women's issues around the world.
