Donald Trump Will Not Attend Funeral Of Former First Lady Barbara Bush

The White House has announced Donald Trump will not attend the funeral of former First Lady Barbara Bush citing a desire to "avoid disruptions" in regard to the president's security detail and "out of respect for the Bush Family and friends."

First Lady Melania Trump will attend the memorial service for Barbara Bush this Saturday representing the First Family.

Reps for former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have indicated they will attend the memorial service as well as former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama.

Barbara Bush, wife of George H.W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 92.

You'll recall when Obama didn't attend the funeral of former First Lady Nancy Reagan, right-wing pundits couldn't wait to criticize.

Former First Lady Barbara Bush passed away today at the age of 92.

Mrs. Bush was one of the early prominent political figures to speak out and act on behalf of AIDS patients in the 80s and 90s for which I will be forever grateful.

The family issued the following statement:

Former First Lady Barbara Bush Begins End-Of-Life "Comfort Care" After Series Of Hospitalizations

After a series of hospitalizations, 92-year-old Former First Lady Barbara Bush has decided to decline any further medical care and will focus instead on "comfort care" signaling an end-of-life palliative phase.

Statement by the Office of George H.W. Bush:

"Following a recent series of hospitalizations, and after consulting her family and doctors, Mrs. Bush, now age 92, has decided not to seek additional medical treatment and will instead focus on comfort care."

"It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself — thanks to her abiding faith — but for others."

"She is surrounded by a family she adores, and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers she is receiving."

Mrs. Bush and her husband have been married 73 years - the longest marriage in presidential history.

Former First Lady Barbara Bush took the other ladies of the Bush clan by surprise it seems when she stated on The Today Show today that "We've had enough Bushes" as President.
