Donald Trump |
Harking back to his accusations that the Obama administration "wire-tapped" his Trump Tower phone lines, Donald Trump took to Twitter to rant to his followers about the "Criminal Deep State," "Phony Collusion" and blah blah blah.
The Trumpster is annoyed at reports that an FBI informant made contact with the Trump campaign in 2016 as part of the federal investigation into Russian election meddling and ties to his team.
You know, that's what the FBI does when they have credible evidence folks are working with foreign players to influence an election.
Look how things have turned around on the Criminal Deep State. They go after Phony Collusion with Russia, a made up Scam, and end up getting caught in a major SPY scandal the likes of which this country may never have seen before! What goes around, comes around!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 23, 2018
“Trump should be happy that the FBI was SPYING on his campaign” No, James Clapper, I am not happy. Spying on a campaign would be illegal, and a scandal to boot!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 23, 2018
Former FBI director James Comey called Trump out as our leader "who will lie about anything:"
Facts matter. The FBI’s use of Confidential Human Sources (the actual term) is tightly regulated and essential to protecting the country. Attacks on the FBI and lying about its work will do lasting damage to our country. How will Republicans explain this to their grandchildren?— James Comey (@Comey) May 23, 2018
Dangerous time when our country is led by those who will lie about anything, backed by those who will believe anything, based on information from media sources that will say anything. Americans must break out of that bubble and seek truth.— James Comey (@Comey) May 23, 2018
Other smart folks chimed in as well:
Once again, a confidential source who speaks with campaign aides who have boasted of Russian offers to help the campaign is not a spy but a standard part of a counter-intelligence investigation. https://t.co/wxDtIEVVbL— Jim Sciutto (@jimsciutto) May 23, 2018
Look, what's more likely?

That the DOJ is orchestrating a massive, multi-agency conspiracy, led by Republicans to discredit Donald Trump.
or
That political novices known for real estate scams accepted help from foreign entities because they're too stupid to know it's illegal! https://t.co/Xxy520NYfK
Russia attacked the United States in an act of information warfare you provided cover for. And you make up a phony narrative to distract from that act of betrayal. That's sad. And what's sadder is the GOP goes along with this con job. Have a good day. https://t.co/dTq1CTRxFI— David Corn (@DavidCornDC) May 23, 2018
This is actually becoming a BIg Lie scandal, not a spy scandal, with the @POTUS and his amen corner in the right wing media and Congress frantically promoting hysterical, false narratives to try and nullify the Mueller probe. https://t.co/0kZERKMup6— David Axelrod (@davidaxelrod) May 23, 2018
Dear @realDonaldTrump: Law enforcement & counterintelligence agents are not the criminal deep state because they are investigating you & your campaign. They took an oath to the Constitution, not to you.— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) May 23, 2018
Oh, and 3 of your campaign officials have already pled guilty.#FactsMatter https://t.co/62Th5YaOmE
