When you visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, where thousands were killed during World War II, you are asked to remain silent.
"You are in a building where the SS murdered thousands of people. Please maintain silence here: remember their suffering and show respect for their memory."
But Louisiana Congressman Clay Higgins posted a political video on YouTube Saturday where he shared his thoughts on building up the U.S. military while walking in and around the museum.
Higgins actually recorded some of the video standing in front of the gas chambers used to murder more than 6 million human beings which included primarily Jews but also gays and others of differing religions.
The museum posted a message to the Congressman saying that while "everyone has the right to personal reflections," when visitors are inside the chambers "there should be mournful silence."
Everyone has the right to personal reflections. However, inside a former gas chamber, there should be mournful silence. It's not a stage. https://t.co/AN5aA1bYEU— Auschwitz Memorial (@AuschwitzMuseum) July 4, 2017
