Antonio Sabato Jr. speaks at RNC 2016 |
I find this appallingly despicable rhetoric. It's well documented that President Obama is a Christian and has attended church regularly.
The idea of questioning another person's faith is reprehensible. Shame on Antonio Sabato Jr.
Politico reports:
Actor Antonio Sabàto Jr. “absolutely” believes President Barack Obama is a Muslim, he said Monday after addressing the Republican National Convention, accusing Obama of being “on the other side.”
“First of all, I don’t believe that the guy is a Christian,” Sabàto said. “I don’t believe he follows the God that I love and the Jesus that I love.”
“If you follow his story, if you read his book, if you understand about Obama — I mean, that’s not a Christian name, is it?” he continued.
Sabàto maintained that Obama doesn’t go to church and accused him of having never talked about Jesus Christ. “I’ve met a lot of Christians. I know Christians,” he said. “I am one, and I don’t believe he is.”
“I believe that he’s on the other side — the Middle East. He’s with the bad guys,” Sabàto said. “He’s with them. He’s not with us. He’s not with this country.” Asked if America could ever have a Muslim or Jewish president, Sabàto insisted the country has already had the former “for seven and a half years.”
When asked why he opposes Obama today, Sabàto notes that "the Bible is completely out of the schools." It's important to note that keeping organized religion out of public schools happened a long time before Obama became president.
The heated attacks against Obama are now allowed to be whatever comes out of anyone's mouth. It's ugly.
