Via @washingtonpost 9/18/01. I want an apology! Many people have tweeted that I am right! https://t.co/CpsMxs54qv pic.twitter.com/wrDEhXJlvR— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 23, 2015
Originally, Trump said there were "thousands and thousands" of Muslims celebrating 9/11 over in New Jersey the day of the attack.
The image he tweets out says "law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number of people..?"
When does "a number of people" equal "thousands and thousands?"
Both Politifact and The Washington Post's Fact Checker analyzed Trump's claim. Politifact rated it "pants on fire" and The Washington Post gave it "four Pinocchios."
Although, I know we shouldn't get too nit-picky over details like the truth. As David Badash at New Civil Rights Movement notes, 74% of Trump's comments reviewed by Politifact are found to be false.
