The song was recorded in 1970 for the "Stoney End" album but not used as Babs already had two other Randy Newman songs on the record. Newman actually plays the piano on this and you can hear his voice at the beginning of the track.

I though Bette Midler's interpretation was just gorgeous. Barbra's is amazing. This is just an incredible song. There is no way anyone can do a bad job with it.
