Congressman Louie Gohmert: Put Gay Couples On An Island To See If They Die Out

While speaking at Liberty University last week, anti-LGBT Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert repeated his call to test his theory that same-sex relationships are "unnatural."

“Let’s just take a totally secular approach to this. Congress is good about having studies; how about if we take four heterosexual couples and put them on an island where they have everything they need to live and exist and we take four couples of just men and put them on an island where they have all they need to survive and then let’s take four couples of just women and put them on an island and then lets come back in 100 years and see which one nature favors.”

Of course, the same could be said about infertile couples or seniors who are past the age of reproduction.

But logic never gets in the way of Mr. Gohmert.

Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert Announces Challenge To John Boehner For Speaker Of The House

Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert visits Fox & Friends Weekend to declare his opposition to Representative John Boehner for Speaker of the House.

In announcing his challenge Gohmert had this to say to Boehner: "You deceived us when you went to Obama and Pelosi to get your votes for the Cromnibus; you said you'd fight amnesty tooth and nail, you didn't! You funded it."

Life now gets more complicated for Boehner.

I don't think Boehner will lose his Speakership, but I do think this is the Tea Party/far right GOPers way of sending a very public message to Boehner.

Texas Rep. Louis Gohmert: Gay Soldiers Giving Massages Proves Repealing DADT Was Bad Idea

I have NO idea what Texas congressman Louis Gohmert is talking about here other than "gay" and "the military" and "Greek massages?"

From a recent appearance on Christian radio show "Point of View" via Right Wing Watch:

"I've had people say, 'Hey, you know, there's nothing wrong with gays in the military. Look at the Greeks.'

Well, you know, they did have people come along who they loved that was the same sex and would give them massages before they went into battle. But you know what, it's a different kind of fighting, it's a different kind of war and if you're sitting around getting massages all day ready to go into a big, planned battle, then you're not going to last very long.

It's guerrilla fighting. You are going to be ultimately vulnerable to terrorism and if that's what you start doing in the military like the Greeks did. As people have said, 'Louie, you have got to understand, you don't even know your history.' Oh yes I do. I know exactly. It's not a good idea."

Greeks? Massages? What???

Congressman Louie Gohmert: It's time to bomb Iran

In a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives, Texas congressman Louie Gohmert demands that the United State bomb Iran.

“It is time to cut off every dime of American money going to anyone who has any kind of relationship with Hamas or those killing in the Middle East, and especially in Israel,” said Gohmert. “It is time to bomb Iran’s nuclear capabilities,” Gohmert concluded.

“It is time for the United States, if we are not going to stop Iran’s nukes, then let Israel do it. A friend will not put another friend in this kind of jeopardy."

AG Eric Holder slaps back at Rep. Louie Gohmert in speech

US Attorney General Eric Holder went off-script in a speech to the National Action Network convention in New York City last night.

“I'm pleased to note that the last five years have been defined by significant strides and by lasting reforms even in the face, even in the face of unprecedented, unwarranted, ugly and divisive adversity."

"And if you don’t believe that, you look at the way -- and forget about me, forget about me -- you look at the way the attorney general of the United States was treated yesterday by a House committee," he continued. "That had nothing to do with me. Forget that. What attorney general has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment? What president has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment?”

While Holder doesn't mention Rep. Louie Gohmert by name, it was clear who he was referring to after a heated exchange in at a House Judiciary Committee hearing.  From TalkingPointsMemo:

Under questioning by Gohmert at a House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, Holder was again asked for documents related to the Fast and Furious scandal that led to his being held in contempt of Congress two years ago.

"I've read you what your department promised and it is inadequate," Gohmert said. "And I realize that contempt is not a big deal to our Attorney General but it is important that we have proper oversight."

"You don't want to go there, buddy, alright? You don't want to go there, ok?" interjected Holder.

"I don't want to go there?" responded Gohmert.

"No. You should not assume that that is not a big deal to me," a visibly agitated Holder shot back. "I think it was inappropriate, I think it was unjust, but never think that that was just a big deal to me. Don't ever think that."

Rep. Louie Gohmert: Speaking against LGBT equality will soon be a hate crime

At an “America in Distress” Tea Party rally in Dallas on July 2, Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert claimed the Obama administration is “coming after religion” and would soon prosecute anyone who spoke out against LGBT equality as a hate crime, reports Right Wing Watch.

He asked those who believe in evolution and marriage equality, “If you believe that throughout the history of the universe, and particularly Earth, that people have come together and born an offspring from different species that has evolved and given us stronger and better species, how does the mating of two males evolve the species upwards?"

Because, you know, the only time Gohmert has ever "mated," it was always about evolving the species upwards...

Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert compares marriage equality to bestiality - again

Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert took a sideways argument against common sense gun legislation and "slippery-sloped" right over to gay "bestiality:"

In fact, I had this discussion with some wonderful, caring Democrats earlier this week on the issue of, well, they said "surely you could agree to limit the number of rounds in a magazine, couldn't you? How would that be problematic?"

And I pointed out, well, once you make it ten, then why would you draw the line at ten? What's wrong with nine? Or eleven? And the problem is once you draw that limit ; it's kind of like marriage when you say it's not a man and a woman any more, then why not have three men and one woman, or four women and one man, or why not somebody has a love for an animal?

There is no clear place to draw the line once you eliminate the traditional marriage and it's the same once you start putting limits on what guns can be used, then it's just really easy to have laws that make them all illegal.

In related news, President Reagan's son, Michael, wrote an op-ed piece bringing marriage equality, bestiality and murder into the same thinking space:

"It’s ultimately about changing the culture of the entire country; it inevitably will lead to teaching our public school kids that gay marriage is a perfectly fine alternative and no different than traditional marriage.

There is also a very slippery slope leading to other alternative relationships and the unconstitutionality of any law based on morality. Think about polygamy, bestiality, and perhaps even murder."

What's pretty grotty about the whole endeavor is that it's all done with conscious intent. These men know exactly what they are doing when they make these comments about the LGBT community.

Just, totally gross.
