New Music: Oliver "Full Circle"

Dance into the weekend as producer/DJ duo Oliver release their new album, Full Circle, today.

From Billboard: "Full Circle is a 10-track journey through space and time. It's got the shine of '70s glamour and funk with the sci-fi tech of '80s dance and plenty of 2017 attitude. It sticks close to Oliver's philosophy of timelessness because if you're going to write an LP, the last thing you want it to be is disposable. There's a touch of old-school electro here, a bit of R&B there, but it all blends beautifully into one, forward-moving, danceable groove.”

The LP is a diverse, multi-flavor event - something for everyone here. But, my favorite track from the collection is hands-down "Love Like This" featuring gay hottie Leon Else.

Along the way, you also get featured performances from folks like MNDR and De La Soul.

Out Music: Leon Else Covers Whitney Classic "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"

Out singer/songwriter Leon Else took a break in the studio to record a stripped down cover of Whitney Houston's classic hit, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."

Leon dropped the earnest and open-hearted Whitney cover following the release of his new single, “What I Won’t Do,” which I wrote about here back in May.

The synth-driven “What I Won’t Do” is the latest single to be released from his upcoming EP due this summer.

“What I Won’t Do” follows on the heels of Else’s previous single “The City Don’t Care” feat. Oliver, which was released in March.

Dubbed “the new Sam Smith” by People magazine, Else’s soulful and richly emotive voice have acted like a magnet to fans and critics alike. Immediately generating buzz, Else has garnered the attention of Elton John while also having been named “Best Dressed Man” by British GQ and, most recently, Else was tapped by VH1 to pay tribute to George Michael and praised as “mesmerizing” (Idolator) and “captivating” (Paper).

Out UK artist Leon Else drops his synth-pop, disco-funk single, “What I Won’t Do.”

Another lonely night with someone in my bed
You think it's cool but what I won't do for love
And I just push away the ones who get too close

Talking to OUT, Else seemed pensive reflecting on how time can shift his perspective - even on his own writing. “I wrote this song over a year ago when I was in a different place than where I am now,” Else said. “It’s about wanting a love that I didn’t think I could have, was allowed to have, or deserved to have. It’s about finding acceptance in yourself."

Speaking of acceptance, Else shares that he will make his personal and professional Pride debut in LA this year.

“I’ve never been to a Pride ever,” he said. “I wasn’t really comfortable with myself.”

I'm sure Else is sure to experience yet another shift in perspective after performing for thousands in the park in Los Angeles.

New Music: Leon Else "The City Don't Care"

British singer/songwriter Leon Else, follows up his 2016 hit singles “Black Car” and “Dance,” with his new track, “The City Don’t Care,” featuring Oliver.

Else, the man Elvis Duran says "is about to be a star," says he wrote the song based on his experiences in Los Angeles.

“There is a fine line between dreams and nightmares, and I felt like I was experiencing both. So I wanted to do a song that musically felt like I was driving through paradise — the sun setting, the pink skies, the palm trees over the ocean, the city in the distance — but, lyrically, I wanted it to be about the dark side, the lonely side, and the deceiving side of the city; everyday being the same old shit."

I love the visual. Before I even read the quote, Else's new song reminded me of a sequence from the 1980s hit TV series Miami Vice that featured Don Johnson racing through the streets of Miami to the tune of Glenn Frey's "You Belong to the City."

This being about LA, the vibe here is more laid-back.

I like the rich 80s synth vibe set against the melancholy of the lyric.

I guarantee you'll be hearing this at afternoon pool/beach parties this summer.

Daily Dance: Leon Else "Dance"

British-born musician and trained dancer, Leon Else releases the lively new music video for "Dance."

Coming from meager backgrounds, Else hustled and saved to put himself through classes at England's finest dance schools. These courses would propel Else's skills, eventually landing him in the Daniel Day Lewis' film NINE.

Refusing to accept a life in the background, Else returned to music, the craft he used as a distraction from his struggles with ADHD and depression.

"The song is about dancing as a way to make depression go away," says Else of the new track. "It is about how music can be like medicine and finding ways to get through life by yourself. For me, that's moving and being physical."
