Kelly Clarkson Totally Fan-Girls Out Meeting Cher

Cher and Kelly Clarkson at the Kennedy Center Honors

For everyone (including me) who has ever fan-boy/fan-girled out over an artist you really, really, really admire...

Kelly Clarkson found herself on the red carpet of the Kennedy Center Honors last night at the same time as honoree, Cher.

While Clarkson was there to sing in honor of country superstar Reba McEntire, Clarkson was adorable in her fan-moment speaking to Extra's AJ Calloway.

"I've never met her," she tells Calloway.

Calloway, surprised, asks, "Never?"

Clarkson: "No, never. And don't do anything either - it'll make me so nervous I'll want to cry..."

You have to watch. I laugh because I've done the exact same thing in my life :)

News Round-Up: September 19, 2018

Stuart Reardon (via Instagram)

Some news items you might have missed:

• InstaHunk Stuart Reardon is giving his best "Clark Kent." I'm willing to bet there's a Superman under that shirt. I hear there's an opening for the role, btw...

• Out lesbian Rachel Maddow not only has the top-rated show on her network, MSNBC, but she had the number one news show of all cable networks last week beating Fox News and CNN.

•  Cody Wilson, who owns a business that distributes blueprints for untraceable 3-D printed guns, has been charged with sexually assaulting an underage girl in Texas. Clearly proving his innocence, Wilson fled the country for Taiwan.

• A Florida father was arrested for driving his son to a park so he could have sex with his girlfriend.

American Idol alum and current The Voice judge, Kelly Clarkson, is getting her own talk show. According to reports, she'll be the lead-in for Ellen in many markets.

• A new, mature version of Batman, titled "Batman: Damned," depicts the caped crusader naked. And by naked, I mean full-frontal.

I won't post here, but I can share a glimpse of bat-butt. The new series is for the DC Black Label division.

Kelly Clarkson Claps Back At Anti-LGBT Trolls On Twitter

American Idol star Kelly Clarkson clapped back at an anti-gay troll who didn't care for her support for LGBTQs
Kelly Clarkson

Do not come for the gays on Kelly Clarkson’s Twitter account or you will be named and shamed.

On Sunday, the ever-and-always American Idol offered congrats to a couple of fans who had just tied the knot.

But one fan wasn’t down with Clarkson’s support for same-sex marriage, tweeting, “Sorry Kelly…. love your music but I don’t dig the dikes…still a sin any way you cut it.”

The Voice judge clapped back saying originally she wasn’t going to give the hate a spotlight, but decided the truth was more important.

Clarkson tweeted: “I almost didn’t respond 2 this because hate doesn’t deserve a spotlight but u know what, truth does, & the truth is that God is Love, & Love shared between two people should be praised not condemned in my personal opinion. I love u 2 although we see the world/love differently.”

New Music: Kelly Clarkson "Love So Soft"

Kelly Clarkson, the original American Idol winner, shows she's still pop music royalty with her latest music video for "Love So Soft."

The trippy, psychedelic video serves up a vibrantly dressed Clarkson - ball gowns and sharp suits - pictured in calming meadows and fields, along with kaleidoscopic backup dancers. It's a sensual, luscious landscape for Clarkson's powerful, take-no-prisoners vocal.

Clarkson also released the slower, moodier "Move You," which you can listen to here.

Speaking to EW, Clarkson described her upcoming album, Meaning of Life, as "a modern take on that '90s urban R&B pop."

Meaning of Life is due October 27.

PBS Special: Josh Groban & Kelly Clarkson "All I Ask Of You"

From his upcoming PBS special based on his current album exploring the Broadway songbook, Josh Groban and guest Kelly Clarkson sing “All I Ask of You” from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s The Phantom Of The Opera.

I have it good authority that Groban was urged to do a Broadway/standards album for years by members of his team but the pseudo-opera singer resisted, instead recording much of the lack-luster pop/crossover material he's released in recent years, much of that self-penned.

I've been a fan of his earlier recordings, but in the past year or so his voice seems a bit "tight" to me and he seems to lack the vocal prowess he once had. If you watched this year's Tony Awards, you know what I mean.

I don't know if he changed coaches or regimen, but it is noticeable. Additionally, he continues his annoying habit of singing with his eyes closed, which has bothered me for years.

That said, I so like several tracks on the Broadway album. Given the right material, there's no denying Groban can be a talented vocalist. You can check it out on iTunes here.

The PBS special will air throughout December.

Music: Kelly Clarkson "Heartbeat Song"

Check out Kelly Clarkson's extremely radio-friendly single "Heartbeat Song."

The original American Idol winner still has a feel for a catchy hook, and the voice  is clearly still great. Nice, bouncy, upbeat.

Kelly Clarkson likely voting for President Obama

Kelly Clarkson says that despite being “a Republican at heart,” she’s likely voting for President Obama, largely because of his stance on marriage equality.

“I can’t support Romney’s policies as I have a lot of gay friends and I don’t think it’s fair they can’t get married,” Clarkson told the U.K.’s Daily Star last week as she prepared to close her concert tour in London. She noted that she has “been reading online about the debates and I’m probably going to vote for Obama again, even though I’m a Republican at heart.”

She added that she’s attracted to the president’s policies on women’s issues as well. “I’m not a hardcore feminist but we can’t be going back to the ’50s,” she said. “Obama is a great guy. I’ve met him and I’m a fan of Michelle too. She has been busy promoting better education and healthy diets, which is something we could all use a dose of reality on.”

Kelly Clarkson endorses Ron Paul - steps in firestorm

First American Idol Kelly Clarkson stepped in a firestorm today when she tweeted her support for Ron Paul.

That tweet generated tons of comments on both WhoSay and Twitter, many insulting her while accusing Paul of racism and homophobia.

Kelly later posted, "I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. Obviously that was not my intent. I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women's rights, men's rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all of the Republican nominees, he's my favorite."

In the past few weeks, excerpts from Ron Paul's 1990s newsletters have revealed racist and homophobic statements sent in his name.  He denied having ever writing the articles.

All 5 of Kelly’s albums have debuted in the Top 3. The first single, “Mr. Know It All” peaked at #4 on the iTunes Singles Chart and is still currently in the Top 10.

Entertainment Weekly calls Stronger, “a breakup album for the ages” while Billboard states, “she’s in her strongest form yet on fifth album Stronger.” The New York Times claims, “Ms. Clarkson is turning into the Mary J. Kelly Clarkson's new track "Mr. Know It All" hits internet

Kelly Clarkson dropped her new single, "Mr. Know It All," on her website this week. It's the first track off her 'Stronger' album, due in October.

The song is an obvious Clarkson song: straightforward, with a strong melody and a sing-along chorus. The midtempo breakup tune is about a girl letting her guy know that despite thinking he's got it all figured out, he doesn't.

The track was written by Brett James (who has a country pedigree, having written for Carrie Underwood), Ester Dean (Beyoncé, Usher) and Dante Jones. Brian Kennedy (Chris Brown, Rihanna, Backstreet Boys) also co-wrote and produced the track.

'Stronger' is Clarkson's fifth album release. It's the follow-up to 2009's All I Ever Wanted. You can pre-order the CD on amazon.com.
