Two "JC Penney" gay dads on local Texas news
The two gay dads - I hate that I feel I need to clarify that, but it seems necessary for those not following this story - Cooper Smith and Todd Koch, who currently are featured in a JC Penney ad for Father's Day, appeared on local Texas news to discuss the attention they've received plus the attacks by the anti-gay One Million Moms.

One Million Moms are "disturbed" that JC Penny included two gay dads in ad
The group One Million Moms - who actually only number about 40K - released a press release criticizing JC Penney for featuring real-life gay dads in their most recent catalog.
Describing themselves rather accurately as 'disturbed,' the group again vowed to keep fighting the gay-friendly retailer. "Our persistence will pay off!" they declare in their press release, which also insists JCP "would rather take sides than remain neutral in the culture war."
It is obvious that JCP would rather take sides than remain neutral in the culture war. JCP will hear from the other side so they need to hear from us as well. Our persistence will pay off! One day we will answer for our actions or lack of them. We must remain diligent and stand up for Biblical values and truth. Scripture says multiple times that homosexuality is wrong, and God will not tolerate this sinful nature. In addition to again urging their supporters to call and write to JC Penney, OMM also asks them to return any unsolicited catalogs that may come their way. "If they receive an onslaught of their returned magazines, they will take notice."
Despite these frequent calls to action, JC Penney has remained steadfast in their commitment to equality.

JC Penney features same-sex couple dads in new ad
JCPenney has just launched
a Fathers’ Day advertisement featuring a gay couple with their
children, noting that the ad portrays “real-life dads Todd Koch and
Cooper Smith with their children, Claire and Mason.”
The copy reads:
JCPenney’s CEO said that “Ellen represents the values of our company” — and with this kind of pro-equality advertising, JCPenney is continuing to reinforce its progressive values.
(source)
The copy reads:
First Pals: What makes Dad so cool? He’s the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver — all rolled into one. Or two.The ad builds on the department store’s recent decisions to stand with the LGBT community. In February, when JCPenney came under fire from the anti-gay group One Million Moms for bringing on the openly-gay comedian Ellen DeGeneres as a spokesperson, the store stood behind its partnership with Ellen.

Gay Day Flash Mob at JC Penney today - spend your gay dollars in support
In a show of support for JC Penney in standing by their values and refusing to cave in to the ANTI-GAY ZEALOTS demanding Ellen be fired as Spokesperson:
Meet in front of JC Penney at 2 PM SHARP this Saturday in NYC and let's buy some stuff! The gays love to shop and I'm sure there's lots of merchandise to enjoy at JC Penney. T-shirts? Basics? Crew sock?
After "One Million Moms" threatened their own boycott - there's really only about 40,000, not a million - show your support to JC Penney.
Here's Ellen addressing the issue.
If you're not in NYC or you can't make it at 2 PM, shop online at JCPenney.com and when you check out add a note that you are shopping in support of Gay Day (Virtual) Flash Mob.
Let's let JC Penney know that we appreciate their decision not to back down in the face of bigoted interests.
More info on the Facebook page.

JC Penney stands by Ellen Degeneres - rebuffs hate group
Via GLAAD: Last week, retail giant J.C. Penney announced a new partnership with America's favorite talk-show host, Ellen DeGeneres.
“We share the same fundamental values as Ellen,” noted the company's President, Michael Francis. “At jcpenney, we couldn't think of a better partner to help us put the fun back into the retail experience.”
Now, however, the anti-gay group "OneMillionMoms.com, a project of the American Family Association" – an organization designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) – has launched a campaign demanding that the retailer fire Ellen simply because she's gay. According to SPLC, "hate groups have beliefs or practices that attack or malign an entire class of people, typically for their immutable characteristics."
“DeGeneres is not a true representation of the type of families that shop at their store,” says the group.
But a majority of Americans disagree. Today, more people than ever celebrate the love of every family – gay or straight – and know that no person should be ridiculed, much less fired, simply for being who they are. Even today, Americans can be fired in 29 states for being gay and in 34 states for being transgender.

Among her many accolades, Ellen received the People's Choice Award for Favorite Daytime TV Host earlier this month. She has also served as a spokesperson for American Express and Cover Girl, among others.
