I know some folks thought a reimagining of the 70s hit sitcom One Day at a Time might seem like a bad idea, but hubby Michael and I really enjoyed season one of the Netflix reboot.
Starring Justina Machado as a Cuban-American single mother "Penelope" raising her son and daughter with the help of her mother (a scene-stealing Rita Moreno), the new version has a lot of heart. There aren't many TV shows addressing single mothers of color as the head of a household.
Plus, the end of season one featured the daughter coming out, so there's definitely some LGBT issues to come in season two.
Check out the trailer for the new season (available now on Netflix) below.
