2014 Emmy Award nominations announced
Nominations for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning.
Of note, Laverne Cox became the first transgender person to be nominated for an Emmy in an acting category. Cox received a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as "Sophia Burset" in the hit Netflix Original Series Orange is the New Black.
In addition, there were several nominations for LGBT-friendly shows/movies like Modern Family, The Normal Heart plus openly gay/lesbian actors Jim Parsons, Joe Mantello, Matt Bomer and others.
Seth Meyers will host the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards on August 25 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
