Back in the 80s, MTV was new, cool and wide open - not only in terms of creativity but air time. Twenty-four hours a day had to be filled with music video content. And there was some of everything.
Mario Wienerroither’s ‘Musicless Musicvideo‘ series has taken to task the 1985 cover of "Dancing In The Streets" done by Mick Jagger and David Bowie.
Apparently, music critics were not overly fond of the recording and felt it was an overly-produced miss-mash of sound. And then came the music video, that looking back now, we can see really was pretty slapped together. Not to be uber-criticized as the project was part of Live Aid and helped raise millions for charity. The recording hit #2 in the US.
Mario's "Musicless" version revisits the music video, but with the music stripped out which makes it all really kind of funny. Take a look at the results.
