Happy Memorial Day!

Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day today, and I hope that everyone takes time out to remember why we celebrate this day as a nation.

It's not "National BBQ Day" you know.

Think of those we've lost who stood up for, and made possible, our freedoms and liberty here in the US.

A few facts about Memorial Day:

• Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday which occurs every year on the final Monday of May.

• Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces, formerly known as Decoration Day.

• Memorial Day typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end.

• Memorial Day is not to be confused with Veterans Day; Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving, while Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans.

For some patriotic Memorial Day entertainment, check out PBS' National Memorial Day Concert here.

The all-star lineup for the event includes: distinguished American leader General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.); world-renowned four-time Grammy Award-winning classical superstar Renée Fleming; multi-platinum recording artist and star of television, film and the Broadway stage Vanessa Williams; country music superstar Scotty McCreery; Grammy nominated, multi-platinum selling artist John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting; Broadway and television star Christopher Jackson; distinguished actress Ana Ortiz; and many more in performance with the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly.
